The 10 Fastest & Best Cars in GTA Vice City

📅 June 2025 ⏱ 6 min read

GTA Vice City's vehicle roster is a love letter to 1980s car culture. From Italian supercars to muscle machines, the city is full of incredible rides — but not all of them are worth stealing. This guide ranks the ten best cars in the game based on speed, handling, and practical usefulness during missions and free roam.

1. Infernus — The Fastest Car in the Game

The Infernus is Vice City's ultimate supercar. Inspired by the Ferrari Testarossa (and the Lamborghini Countach), it's the fastest four-wheeled vehicle in the game with a top speed that leaves everything else behind. Handling is twitchy at high speed, but once you master it, the Infernus is untouchable.

Where to find it: Spawns reliably on Starfish Island, parked near the mansions on the western side. Also occasionally seen driving along the strip in Vice Point at night.

2. Cheetah — Speed with Better Handling

The Cheetah (Ferrari-inspired) is nearly as fast as the Infernus but significantly easier to control, especially around corners. For most players, the Cheetah is the superior daily driver — it's fast enough to escape any situation and stable enough not to kill you doing it.

Where to find it: Parked on Ocean Drive in Vice Point. Also spawns on the second island near the car showrooms.

3. Banshee — The Most Balanced Sports Car

The Banshee is Vice City's version of a Dodge Viper — a long-hood American sports car with serious straight-line speed and reasonable cornering. It's one of the most recommended cars for timed missions because it's fast, reliable and doesn't spin out as unpredictably as the Infernus.

Where to find it: Kaufman Cabs in Little Havana often has a Banshee parked nearby after you complete the taxi missions. Also spawns in the Prawn Island area.

4. Sabre Turbo — Hidden Gem

The Sabre Turbo looks like a regular muscle car, but it handles better than it has any right to and reaches impressive top speeds. It's less showy than the Infernus but very capable. You can also spawn it with the cheat code GETTHEREVERYFASTINDEED.

Where to find it: During the "Top Fun" missions near the stadium, or occasionally parked in the industrial areas of the west island.

5. PCJ-600 — Best for Tight Spaces

Technically a motorcycle, not a car, but the PCJ-600 deserves a spot here because it's arguably the fastest vehicle in the game for navigating city streets. It can reach the same top speed as the Infernus on long straights and fits through gaps that no car can manage. Essential for the "Pizza Boy" side mission.

Where to find it: One reliably spawns outside the Ocean Beach hotel near Tommy's first safe house. Also common in Vice Point.

6. Hotring Racer — For Pure Speed

The Hotring Racer is a stock car with tremendous top speed but brutal handling — it's designed for oval circuits, not city streets. In open areas or highway runs, nothing matches it except cheated spawns. You can spawn it with HOTRING.

Where to find it: Appears at the Hyman Memorial Stadium during the Hotring race event, or via the cheat code.

7. Rhino (Tank) — Indestructible Escape Vehicle

The Rhino isn't fast, but it's completely indestructible and can shove anything out of its path. For missions where you need to reach a location through heavy resistance, the Rhino lets you drive straight through police roadblocks. Spawn it with PANZER.

Where to find it: Fort Baxter Air Base on the west side of the second island — but be prepared for a 5-star wanted level. Use the tank cheat for convenience.

8. Maverick — The Best Helicopter

Again technically not a car, but the Maverick helicopter is worth mentioning as the best way to travel across the city quickly. It spawns reliably, is easy to fly compared to other aircraft, and lets you access rooftop packages and skip across the water to the second island before you unlock it through missions.

Where to find it: Helipad outside the Downtown police station, and on top of the building south of the hotel in Vice Point.

9. Sentinel XS — Stylish and Quick

The Sentinel XS (a BMW M3-inspired sports sedan) is a surprisingly capable car that blends in with traffic while still being significantly faster than most civilian vehicles. Its durability is excellent — it can take more damage than the supercars before catching fire.

Where to find it: Drives around the affluent areas of Vice Point and Starfish Island. Park yours in a safe house garage to keep it.

10. Landstalker — Best Off-Road

The Landstalker (inspired by a Land Rover Defender) is the best vehicle for off-road sections and rough terrain. It handles bumps, kerbs, and grass that would send sportscars spinning. It's not fast, but its utility in the right situation is unmatched.

Where to find it: Extremely common — spawns all over the city. Almost any suburban or industrial area will have one nearby.
